Item Description
This 3-cent green George Washington Government Stamped Envelope issue of 1874, Scott U163, was mailed from Blairstown, New Jersey to New Hampton, New Jersey in 1882 and was cancelled by fancy barred elliptical killer containing the initials 'JDV' for John D. Vail, the Blairstown Postmaster who served between 1875 and 1887. This cancel is listed in Cole as EL-166.Cut open left so reduced, the backflap is sealed and intact. No contents or backstamps.
