This Big Bird 4 - SAMOS 4 was a US Air Force first generation photo surveillance satellite launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA aboard an Atlas Agena-B rocket. It was the 4th in the series of SAMOS Missile Observation Satellites and was a classified firing by the USA military. It has a hand drawn & lettered cachet franked with a 4 cent Communications for Peace USA stamp cancelled on 03/30/1961, at VAB on launch date. The cover has a catalog value of $40.
