This cover commemorating the Texas Centennial Year was mailed from Austin, Texas to Gonzales, Texas in 1936 franked by a 3-cent purple Texas Centennial issue of 1936, Scott 776. The stamp is tied to the envelope by a machine cancellation.The cachet depicts a map and a quote by Anson Jones, the fourth and last President of the Republic of Texas: "The Republic of Texas is no more."
