Potatoes and Christmas?? Yep - every year the Claude C. Ries Chapter of the AFDCS celebrates their holiday party with a baked potato feast -- The Yule Tuber, they call it. For the past 31 years, all attendees have received a cover commemorating the event.The 2020 cover in the series shows a the Puffin Cachets Puffin serving a dish of steaming baked potatoes to a happy Ptarmigan, and a hungry Arctic Fox - the two Icelandic winter wildlife species shown on Iceland's 2020 Christmas stamps.
This FDC was serviced in Iceland on an official Íslandspostur envelope (European size) and is for one of the very last issues for which Iceland offered FDCs! The cover received two nice strikes of the official pictorial First Day of Issue cancel from the capital city of Reykjavík on October 29, 2020.
The reverse shows the Puffin Cachets logo and the inscription denoted this is cover #32 of only 35 serviced. This cover won the 2020 AFDCS Planty Award for best Foreign FDC.
