Exploration in the Moon's Highlands - 10th Anniversary 02/06/1981 Cape Canaveral, FL AP-14 - VF Cachet maker: Astro covers This cover commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Apollo 14 Space Mission with 3 astronauts: Alan Shepard; Stuart Roosa; and Edgar Mitchell. Shepard and Mitchell made the 4th moon landing to the Fr Mauro Highlands and gathered 90 pounds of geologic specimens while Roosa remained in the command module orbiting around the Moon. The crew splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on 02/09/1971 where they were recovered by the USS New Orleans ( LPH-11). This cover is franked with a zip single First Man on the Moon stamp hand cancelled at Cape Canaveral, Fl. The brown cachet is by Astro Covers.
