APOLLO 12 MOON MISSION & LANDING 11/14/1969 Kennedy Space Center AP-12 VF-UA Cachet maker: NASA This cover commemorate the Apollo 12 Space Mission with 3 astronauts: Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon & Alan Bean, launched from KSC on 11/14/1969. The Astronauts: Conrad and Bean made the 2nd moon landing on 11/19/1969 in the Ocean of Storms, carried equipment from the Lunar Orbiter onto the Moon surface, to transmit TV signals back to Earth. They also conducted a wide ranging experiments before lifting off the Moon on 11/20/1969, to the Command Module where Gordon remained orbiting the Moon. The crew splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on 11/24/1969 where they were recovered by the USS Hornet. This cover has special hand stamped cachet by NASA this is quite scarce. Out of 114,626 covers cancelled at KSC that day, only 3,929 received this hand stamped cachet. Pricing on the impression ofthis cachet is ranked from poor $(25) to excellent $(100-up). The impression on this covers is in the upper 25% range.
