All BETTER "D" Meter Stamps: SEVEN covers; 1930-47, begins with pair of 2c DB1.1 on long cover, Petersburg VA Jul 8 1930, printed in ORANGE, cover has DIE-CUT Peerless Luggage label in corner, something of a rarity itself, early usage of this Meter, the two legal size covers shown together are both DD2 from the International Supply Co, one w/ slogan, light toning, then a fascinating DH1 (meter No. 6033), with Borden's c/c and slogan, addr Wash DC (the close-up is the seventh scan), stamp has the "3" in the frank inserted to the R a bit, which apparently damaged the frame line above it, the frank is well inked, so this is not an inking problem, the more you study this the more interesting it becomes! The other meter shown with it is DF2.1, Hartford CT w slogan, also a RARE DC2 (the close up is the fifth scan), Meter No. 526 (the first meter for this subtype), frank struck twice, which appears to be an error, but actually there is written 6c in pencil at UR (double rate), Jan 29 1935, finally a Dec 5 1947 usage of DG2 w Dutch Boy Paint slogan, from the National Lead Co in 111 Broadway (111 & 113 are the famous narrow buildings near Trinity Church in NYC!), window env, no flap, pencil mark, mostly very nice! Fine-VF lot.
