Item Description
The American First Day Cover Society celebrated their 50th Anniversary at the AmeriCover '05 convention in Vienna/Tyson's Corners, VA, and hosted the First Day of Issue cremonty for the 37¢ Advances in Aviation set of 10 different stamps. Each one pictured an aircraft that advanced the aeronautic technology or innovations from the past 75 years.This cover is franked with the F6F HELLCAT single, and the futuristic-looking YB-49 FLYING WING stamp. The cachet shows a helmeted pilot flying an 'AFDCS 50' a winged facsimile of the first day cover from the AFDCS' very first convention in 1955.
The cover received the rather larger-than-expected hand cancel and was serviced at Americover
