Aden to GB Censor cover via French Somali Coast RARE 1940 (Jun) Aden to GB via French Somali Coast. Cover endorsed Air Mail via Djibouti and Marseilles franked 1r and 3r x 2 cancelled Aden 10.6.40 with light R1 PASSED BY / RAF / CENSOR / No60. in the early stage of the war there was no direct service from Aden. Mail usually being carried to Egypt for onward air transmission at rate 14a. there was however an additional route - surface to Djibouti thence by Ala Littoria via Asmara Khartoum Cairo. Benghazi and Rome to Marseille for onward air transmission. The service ceased on the 10th June (the dated this cover wa posted) when routes thrown into confusion with Italys declaration of war.
