Item Description
The island nation of Jersey celebrated the zodiac animals of the Lunar New Year over a period of 12 years on lovely and whimsical souvenir sheets designed by one of Jersey's most famed artists . . . whose name I can't recall at the moment!1996 was the Year of the Rat, and said famous artist created a top hat and scarf-adorned little rat out in a meadow. The handcolored cachet depicts a similarly attired rodent in the outdoors.
The cover is franked with the large and attractive souvenir sheet that has the one pound stamp at center, cleanly cancelled with two strikes of the official Jersey first day of issue postmark of February 19, 1996.
The reverse of this Puffin Cachets cover shows that this is cover #4 of only 6 covers sent to Jersey for servicing!
