AmeriCover - the annual convention of the American First Day Cover Society - was held in Irvine, CA in 2012 and the local So. Cal. chapter of the AFDCS, the Claude C. Ries Chapter, as hosts, went all out to make the convention a fun event!

The President's Banquet is held on the first night of the convention and in addition to good food, raffles and highjinks, highlights the winners of the annual Cachetmakers Contest.

This cover was given to everyone who attended, and shows a California Bear and Pelican chowing down on a platter of FDCs, while a California Sea Lion and the State Bird - the California Quail - applaud the projection of the cover contest winners.

It bears two singles of the 34¢ Apple, and was cancelled with the pictorial show cancel of August 10, 2012. This is probably the only cover franked this way!
