1841-1842 – "The Celebrated Spanish Retreat, Quick Step. " Arranged for the Piano Forte by J. De Anguera. Boston: Henry Printiss, 1841. Cover illustration, copyright 1842, is titled “Shoulder Arms” and features a soldier standing at shoulder arms. Complete. Approximately 10” x 13”.

“Performed for the 1st time by the Brigade Band at the Encampment of the Hancock Light Infantry – July 1841. Jose De Anguera came to the United States after deserting the Spanish Army in the 1830s. He played with the Boston Theater Orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra, and Burditt’s Boston Brigade Band.

Light toning. Removed from a privately bound album of sheet music, so rough along the left edge.
