THE RICE DIARIES: Two from the ever-popular CHINESE RESISTANCE ISSUE; (SCOTT #906), each PAGE is a roughly 6.5" x 5.5" piece of graph-lined paper, the first has a #906 plate block tied by Denver JULY 7 1942 FD CANCEL, block is SOTN & the page has Rice's address at top, cancel repeated at bottom, these pages were made for Rice at each FD ceremony he attended as a sort of a record. It's unknown if they were bound in some way originally, but not many were made, THE SECOND PAGE IS A CORNER MARGIN SINGLE & it is tied by a WASHINGTON D.C, SECOND DAY POSTMARK, RICE lived in Arlington (per the ADDRESS) so it would have been an easy stop for him to make. He had produced SECOND DAY ITEMS BEFORE THIS, BUT THIS SECOND DAY HAD AN OFFICIAL ELEMENT TO IT (I BELIEVE SOME OF THE BRASS ATTENDED THE 2nd DAY CEREMONY INSTEAD OF THE FIRST DUE TO WAR-TIME CONSTRAINTS), VERY FEW 2nd day ITEMS EXIST and especially not unusual ones like these diaries, BOTH PAGES HAVE 906 penciled at top, HIGHLY UNCOMMON OFFERING, VF
