A Russian Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft launched from the Baikonur
Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 7:12 a.m. EST  (1112 GMT; 5:12 p.m. local
Kazakhstan time.)   The ISS-bound spacecraft carried Expedition 56/57
crew NASA's Serena Auñón-Chancellor, cosmonaut Sergey
Prokopyev and European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst.  The
Soyuz is scheduled to dock with the ISS June 8 2018.  

Originally NASA Astronaut Jeanette Epps was assigned as flight
engineer for Expeditions 56 and 57, becoming the first African American
space station crew member and the 15th African American to fly in space,
but on January 16, 2018, NASA announced that
Epps had been replaced by her backup _Serena_ Maria _Auñón_-_Chancellor_.
