The Black Sea was chosen as the theme of the joint issue of the postal administrations of Ukraine and Bulgaria. Two bright representatives of the marine fauna are depicted on the stamps of the postal block - the Black Sea whitefish and the "Angel's Wings" mollusk.
The Black Sea bottlenose dolphin is the most common and numerous species of dolphin in the Black Sea, which was nominated for Marine Animal of the Year in 2017.
The main habitat of the dolphin is open water, but some of its representatives are also found near the shores. The length of this amazing animal, which often accompanies ships and vessels as a "guardian", can reach 2.4 m, and weight - 100 kg.
The "Angel's Wings" mollusk is one of the most important ecological sentinels, which is the first to respond to sea pollution and insufficient nutrients in the water. This unusual type of mollusk was chosen as the model for the metal sculpture that was installed in Odessa this year.
