The Claude C. Ries Chapter - an enthusiastic group of Southern California FDC collectors - gathers every summer for a bountiful BBQ at the home of a club member. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Ice Cream and Watermelon are the staples!In 2021, for the first time ever, we gathered at the Moreno Valley home of Gladys Jones, whose home is virtually a Winnie The Pooh museum. Temperatures hit 101˚, but we barely noticed, as we chowed down on the bounty of summertime goodies. We were even visited by the Ice Cream truck driven by a good friend of Gladys'!
That's Gladys smilingly checking over her shoulder on Pooh and Piglet, who are enjoying her mastery of her new grill! The cover is franked with the then recent SUN SCIENCE stamp depicting a Sunspot, and is cancelled with a custom-made pictorial cancel.
This cover was given out to attendees of the annual summer get-together and very few were left over!
It was a great party . . . and nobody melted!
