Full mint sheet of 50 - 10 cent stamps issued in 1974 to celebrate Christmas. The stamp shows the dove weather vane atop Mount Vernon. These precancelled stamps were the post office's first attempt at a self-adhesive stamp. They had some problems with the adhesive slowly darkening the stamp over time. They've worked that out now and self-stick stamps seem to be the preferred format these days. Except for the toning caused by the adhesive, this sheet is as fresh as the day it was purchased at the post office 45+ years ago and is suitable for framing. The picture below shows a stamp from the sheet. If you're a stamp collector, it is Scott #1552 plate # 35640-35645 UR.
