Item Description
Approximately 6" x 9"""Playbill" for a "Ballets Africains" performance in Chicago during its 1967 world tour. Les Ballets Africains, from Guiena, is one of the first African national dance companies. Despite its name, the company does not perform traditional European ballet. Rather it performs traditional African drumming, dancing, and storytelling. During its 1967 world tour, the company's director was arrested in Montreal for inciting the indecent exposure of minors as its teenage girl members danced topless as was traditional in Guinea. The judge dismissed the charges.
In nice shape. Ephemera 1250
