Item Description

This Lot is an unusual, interesting 1965 Guernsey First Day Cover featuring Scott #2b on front and six Herm Island stamps on reverse. Stamps are all tied to cover by either "GUERNSEY / 9 MAY 1965" or on reverse side "HERM ISLAND / 9 MAY 1965" circular date stamps. Cover is addressed to "Sausmarez House", St. Peter Port, Guernsey. Stamps have deep rich coloring, four margins with variable but nice centering, and excellent perforations. Cover itself measures approximately 144 mm x 96 mm, has sharp straight edges and sharp corners, and has a black Churchill cachet inscribed "LIBERATION DAY / MAY 9 1945" . Cover is clean front and reverse sides. Please see pictures for condition and quality.
