Item Description

Full mint sheet of 48 - 8 cent stamps issued in 1957 to initiate the Champion of Liberty series. The stamp shows a portrait of Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines portrayed on a medallion. The picture below shows one of the stamps from the sheet. This stamp was such an extra large format that was thankfully abandoned by the USPS. This sheet is often folded so as to fit in a standard Mint Sheet File Folder. This one has not been folded but the top and bottom rows have some perf separation and minor crinkles. Otherwise, it is as fresh as the day it was purchased at the post office 60+ years ago and is suitable for framing. If you're a stamp collector, it is Scott #1096. Plate # 25771 and 25805 LL.
