Three advertisements for toy tractors. From a 1949 wholesale toy catalog.

Two ads are for BMT Riding Tractors: "Tractor S." for children 5-10 years old; pedal-powered with a chain drive and "Tractor Jr." for children 3-7 years old; pedal-powered without chain drive. Various accessories. One is for an AMT (Aluminum Model Toys) 9" scale-model Ford Tractor with a "heavy-duty motor" and "coaster play."

Also an ad for lead-based Christmas tree tinsel is on the reverse of one of the tractor pages. This tinsel was super-sparkly and never tarnished. It hung better than any tinsel produced today. The FDA campaigned heavily against its use due to fears of lead poisoning in children although the agency admitted it could not ban the product because there was no empirical evidence that it ever did or could possibly cause harm or was even a health hazard. The campaign worked, and it companies voluntarily removed it from the marketplace around 1970.
