Item Description

US 1945 V-Mail letter (you can see the silver in it) --- letter is to Miss Irene Fellin, Baer Boulevard, Bremerton, Washington --- from Corporal Hugh P. Corrigan, 3059th Quartermaster... Company, M.b. Sp., A.P.O. 758, c/o Postmaster, New York, New York --- A.P.O. 758 indicates that at this time the recipient is at Headquarters, US 7th Army located at Luneville, France --- partially indistinct ...US 29276 Army Examiner rectangular censor's stamp with mostly indistinct John... signature at upper left

Letter is dated 7th Army, January 29, 1945, and begins, Dear Ikie --- the writer says, "Glad to hear you had a nice Xmas. I made out OK too but we all would go for some changes especially at a time like that." --- he relates, "I am fine and get plenty of cigarettes, soup, etc. but don't do so good on drinks."

He complains, "This French beer is like water and cognac & calvados is harder to get in this part of Europe.You can get a shot of schna[ps] now & then which isn't bad but they are few and far between." --- he describes, "It has been plenty cold and snowed over a foot but it warmed up last night and rained so going is quite mushy at present."
