Postal Service Dec 23 1944 No. 3 (December) circular dated postmark with wavy machine bars --- two small vertical tears from top --- diagonal creases at corners --- trivial soiling --- back cover flap carefully opened and folded inside cornerLetter is to Mrs. Florence Fleischer, Houston Street, Fort Worth (2), Texas, U.S.A. --- from Private Gilbert B. Fleischer, Battery B, 552 Anti-Aircraft Artillery, Automatic Weapons, A.P.O. 230, c/o Postmaster, New York, New York --- A.P.O. 230 indicates that at this time the recipient is in Belgium, although Headquarters, U.S. 1st Army is located at Chaudfontaine, France --- Passed by US ?1457 Army Examiner rectangular censor's stamp with illegible signature at upper left
Letter is dated December 5, 1944, and begins, Lo My Honey --- the writer says, "Haven't really got a dam bean of news to report today but I'm waiting and hoping for some mail from you right now." --- he recalls, "Gee, I sure had a nice dream last night. Wish I could tell you all about it - anyway it was all about you."
He describes suggestively, "gosh you were lovely too. You... Were absolutely beautifu[l], delovely d'lux and lucious. Yum! Yum! I swoon every time i think of that dream." --- he asks, "how's the link training coming? I'm feeling fine, warm, and my belly is full. Hope you're the same!" --- signed, love to you, your, gel; dark strip across bottom or sides is the plastic holder in the scan
