Letter is to Mr. S. Coates, Eastman Avenue, Oakland, California, U.S.A. --- from Private First Class Ray B. Robbins, 556th Bomber Squadron, A.P.O. 638, c/o Postmaster, New York, New York --- 193142 stamped at upper left --- partially obscured Passed by US ... Army Examiner rectangular censor's stamp with indistinct signature at upper left --- 9 July 1943 stamped below address window

Letter is dated July 7, 1943, and begins, Hello Jack --- the writer says, "I received your letter... I was glad to get the latest event[s]. Hope your operation was successful and you are as good as new." --- he continues, "I'm writing from England so it will be some time before you hear from me don't think I didn't intend to write."

He requests, "answer this when you have time and give my regard[s] to the growler. By the way when are you two going to join the road to happ[i]ness some call it." --- signed, your pal, ray;  dark strip across bottom or sides is the plastic holder in the scan
