Up for auction is a beautiful cover from a detainee in the concentration camp of Mauthausen ober Donau in Germany occupied Austria. Konzentrationlager KZ Cover written on camp issued stationery. From a prisoner named Hans Majtl to a family member named LMaria Majtil in Prague Bohemia. Postmarked June 8, 1942. What is extremely unusual about the cover is it has a commemorative stamp. Most kz covers had a single 12 pf definitive stamp. Very scarce. Very rare to see concentration camp covers with commemorative stamps.Priced to sell. Mauthausen was a massive concentration camp complex in Austria designed to kill through forced labor the "incorrigible enemies of the reich", it tended to have political prisoners and members of the intelligentsia in it rather than criminals and the ordinary undesirables of the Third Reich (i.e., Jews, gypsies, Slavs, etc.).
