Up for auction is a beautiful airmail Cover from a Jewish refugee in Cochabamba Bolivia to Oskar "Israel" Skutezky in Vienna Germany via Lati Airlines. Postmarked May, 1941. Nice stamps and cancel. Priced to sell. Great Postal History . In the run up to world war two Jews with the resources to do so were fleeing persecution in Germany and very few countries would give them asylum or refuge. one of the few who did was Bolivia which admitted around 500 jewish refugees. This cover is from one of them, I cannot read their name on the back. It is addressed to a Jewish man who was required to use the name "Israel". Because of the British blockade of germany airmail to the western Hemisphere was restricted, this cover was flown via Italian Lati Airlines.This is a scarce and unusual item of postal history for those who collect Judaica and refugee postal history.
