Item Description

This Lot is a 1941 Balboa Heights Canal Zone Scott #C12 on Cover with First Day of issue Cancel. Stamp is tied to cover by "Balboa Heights / JUL 15 8 AM 1941 / CANAL ZONE" circular date stamp with straight line "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" killer. Cover is addressed to Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Stamp has deep rich coloring, four margins (narrow at top and right) centered toward top right. Cover measures approximately 147 mm x 98 mm, has sharp corners and straight edges, and is clean front and reverse sides. Regrettably, cover has 3/4" tear on right edge opposite stamp which extends into stamp - no missing pieces however. Please see pictures of cover and specifically of stamp. Scott 2023 Specialized Catalogue values this First Day cover at $22.50 US. A very nice cover, but priced low because of fault described above.
