"Kansas" from Ruth and Frank Taylor's famous cartoon atlas of the United States, "Our U.S.A.: a Gay Geography." _Little, Brown, and Company, 1938,

Ruth provided cartography and caricatures; Frank provided the text. Ruth's humorous bubble-headed caricatures and cartoon industries that populate her maps portray the uniqueness of each individual state. She portrays white, black, and native Americans with charm and equally accurate period authenticity. For this, in our thin-skinned world so attuned to the slightest possible imagined micro-aggression, she and her maps are reviled and disparaged in some circles today.

The map has been removed from its atlas and bears some edgewear. The textual description of Kentucky appears on the reverse as that is the map it faced when bound in the book.
