Item Description
1936 Canary Islands Spain Local Post 5 Centavos Airmail Seaplane Over the Peak of Tenerife Used Stained on TopThe 1954-55 edition of Sanabria's Air Post Catalog describes it as a local surtax stamp for LAS PALMAS that was issued in 1937. The catalog lists a 5c ultra ((#73), 5c violet blue (#74) and 15c brown(#75). The 5c ultra can also be found surcharged "Habilitado--para--0'10" in red (#76).
There is also a 25c green stamp of the similar design inscribed "TENERIFE" that was a local surtax for SANTA CRUZ de TENERIFE (#77).
