1934 Italy Poster Stamp 7.70 Lire Rocket Mail Experiments Trieste October Used On Piece Special Cancellation The First Rocket Mail Experiment In Italy Took Place In 1934 By The German Engineer Gerard Zuecker, Who Began To Carry Out His First Experiments With Rockets Intended For The Transport Of Correspondence In Germany, Without However Making An Impression On The Nazi Military Hierarchies, And So He Began To Tour Europe In Search Of Financiers, Also Arriving In Italy, In Trieste. For The Occasion, No Stamps Were Issued, But Two Triangular Bands (4000 Copies Of Each Type) To Commemorate The Event; For The Transport Of The “Express Rocket” A Surcharge Of 5 Lire And 7.70 Lire Was Required, Specifically Indicated On The Bands That Were Then Applied To All Correspondence.The Two Bands Had These Characteristics: 5 Lire, Red Background And Green Writing, And 7.70 Lire, Grey-Blue Background, Used At Will, Individually Or In Pairs, On Aerogrammes Regularly Franked With Italian Stamps, Almost Always Commemorative Of The 1st Centenary Of The Medals Of Military Valor. The Special Cancellations Used For The Experiment And Applied To The Correspondence Were Two 1) A Red Linear Cancellation With The Indication “OCTOBER/POSTAL EXPERIMENTS/PER ROCKET EXPRESS/TRIESTE/1934”,2) A Purple-Black Circular Cancellation With The Indication “POSTAL EXPERIMENT – PER ROCKET EXPRESS – TRIESTE – OCTOBER 1934”
