TOPIC PICTURED: Uruguay classic stamps are at begining in 1856 a lithography done by Mege & Willems and pictures a radiant sun, a no doubt masonic simbol, that was very usual in the definitive birth of this republic that experienced in those years 1850ies the end of war and begin of a new nation. Of this lithograph printer other allegories similar were done. The head is a woman head and refers to the new nation birth. Following issues from 1864 to 1868 represented the same sun but shown in arms of the nation, together with horse cattle fortress and scale symbols.

Mint ancient Uruguay stamps are in most cases without gum, otherwise presence of gum will be detailed in description ( CONDITION ). Most of these stamps were scanned front and reverse for you to carefully inspect them.
