1930 airmail cover from San Francisco to New York. 5 cent winged globe airmail. Charred edges; auxiliary marking "damaged in plane fire at Warren, Ohio 9-21-30. With outer "ambulance" penalty cover with same marking. National Air Transport CAM17 flight; plane's motor failed and pilot struck a telephone pole while making an emergency landing. 900 pounds of mail salvaged, partly burned.
