Item Description
Scarce 1925 Italy Charity Poster Stamp 1/2 Pence The Child Jesus St. Teresa Of Patron Of The Discalced Carmelite Missions Corso d'Italia Rome 38 (Great Britain Version) Unused Hinge Remnant 80% Original Gum. The Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, known as the Carmelites or sometimes by synecdoche known simply as Carmel, is a mendicant order in the Catholic Church for both men and women. Wikipedia. Corso Italia is the main promenade of Genoa, Italy. It is one of the main roads of the neighbourhood of Albaro, east of the city centre. About 2.5 kilometres long, the promenade connects the quartieri (neighbourhoods) of Foce and Boccadasse. Because Reformed Carmelites wore sandals in place of shoes and stockings, they came to be called the Discalced, or barefooted, Carmelites, to distinguish them from the older branch of the order.
