The Rossica Society of Russian Philately (Общество русской филателии "Россика") is a society founded for the study and appreciation of the postage stamps and postal history of Russia. Baron Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf (1852-1925) was an Austrian general and Chief of Staff of the Austro-Hungarian army during World War I. WikipediaOn June 3, 1915, in the context of World War I, the city of Przemyśl (now in Poland, but part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time) was a significant site due to the ongoing Eastern Front campaigns. Earlier in the war, Przemyśl had been the scene of a major siege. The Siege of Przemyśl was one of the longest sieges of World War I, lasting from September 1914 to March 1915, during which Russian forces surrounded the Austro-Hungarian garrison in the fortress city. The fortress fell to the Russians in March 1915, marking a major victory for Russia. However, just a few months later, the situation changed drastically. By June 3, 1915, Przemyśl was back in the hands of the Central Powers, specifically the Austro-Hungarians and Germans. In May 1915, during the Gorlice-Tarnów Offensive, the Central Powers launched a major counteroffensive against Russian forces, leading to the recapture of Przemyśl on June 3, 1915. This was a significant victory for the Central Powers, as it reversed earlier Russian gains and marked a turning point in the Eastern Front, with the Russians being pushed back and losing control over much of Galicia (a region in modern-day Poland and Ukraine). The fall and recapture of Przemyśl symbolized the back-and-forth nature of the war on the Eastern Front. ChatGPT
