1914 WW I Germany Poster Stamp Luftfahrerdank Wohlfahrtsmarke Zeppelin LZ 11 - Viktoria Luise (Literal Translation: Aviators Thanks Welfare Stamp) Unused 80% Original Spotty Gum Zeppelin LZ 11 - Viktoria Luise The Zeppelin LZ 11 was a German civilian and military rigid airship operated by DELAG (German Transport Company). After it was use by DELAG as passenger-carrying airship later was taken over as a training airship by the German military upon the outbreak of World War I. On 1 October 1915, LZ 11 was broke apart while being put into its hangar. The Foundation Luftfahrerdank, based in Berlin, was a German organization for the support of the families of injured aviation pioneers.The aviation tank was founded in October 1913 by Colmar von der Goltz. The background to this was the great danger for pilots in the early days of aviation to be killed by crashes and accidents or to become disabled through injuries. Because the early airmen were barely able to protect themselves for such cases, because insurance companies generally refused, their families were under constant threat of sudden destitution.
