Item Description
1910 Czechoslovakia Charity Poster Stamp 4 Heller Archduchess Maria-Josepha In A Portrait For Alland Sanatorium Pair Unused No Gum. Sanatorium Alland is a sanatorium in the Weinerwald that was visited by Vienna patients in 1909. Sanatoriums were historic hospitals that treated specific diseases, related ailments, and convalescence. They were often located in the countryside and had a healthy climate. The word "sanatorium" comes from the Latin word sānāre, which means "to heal, make healthy". Archduchess Maria Josepha of Austria was the twelfth child and ninth daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Empress Maria Theresa. She was engaged to King Ferdinand IV of Naples and Sicily, but the marriage never materialised due to Maria Josepha's death due to smallpox. WikipediaSeller Information
