Approximately 11" x 6.5".This wood engraving, titled "Engagement off Fort Pillow, Mississippi River, Between Federal and Confederate Gun-Boats." The gunboats are identified as the Benton (Federal), General Van Dorn (Confederate), Marquis De Habana and Another (Confederate), and Cincinnati (Federal). Clipped from page 1 of the 1 June 1862 edition of the New York Times. The text on the reverse of the clipping shows through as faint vertical lines, which are much less pronounced on the clipping than in the scan.
