1850 Stampless NEW BEDFORD Ms., H/S "5"- SAMUEL BRECK, TAUNTON MA, VOTER FRAUD?!

Greenish MAR 27 NEW BEDFORD Ms. CDS on Folded Letter Sheet

Interesting letter. Does it suggest voter fraud?
It was sent from E. Anthony.
The letter mentions mr. (charles) babbitt who was a director at the taunton national bank.
It also mentions disposing of votes in the towns you name, enough for the whole county,
and the lesser expense of having them done all in one place.
The important question is if the word used is PRINTED or PAINTED,
which I can't completely decypher. Why would votes need to be painted?

Samuel Breck went to Bridgewater, and his son was a
Brigadier General in the Regular Army.
