1850 – "Ossian’s Serenade." Ossian E. Dodge. Boston: Oliver Ditson, 1850. Complete. Approximately 10” x 13”.

Cover features an illustration of P. T. Barnum presenting Ossian E. Dodge to Jenny Lind. The caption reads: P. T. Barnum, introducing Madelle Jenny Lind to Ossian E. Dodge, the Boston vocalist & purchaser of the $625 Ticket for the first Concert of the Swedish Nightingale in Boston.” This was the first ticket sold to see Jenny Lind’s firs U.S. performance. $625 in 1850 dollars is equivalent to just under $25,000 today. Barnum milked this publicity for all that he could, hence the publication of this illustrated sheet music.
