Item Description

1830 free frank of Amos Kendall as 4th auditor, addressed to Daniel Brodhead as navy agent at Boston. Red "city of Washington" CDS and free handstamp; couple of vertical file folds and cover with some toning; Kendall would go on to become postmaster general under Jackson. Kendall served as 4th auditor in the Treasury Department from 1829 to 1835; ASCC $60 from 30 years ago. Part preprinted form conent, signed by Kendall again.
