StampWorld.com (SW) Catalog Numbers

I have started including SW numbers in my listings, for the benefit of those who do not have Scott catalogs. I have also started compiling a Scott-SW cross reference, to use for future listings. If anyone else is doing the same, I would like to share the information. As I have only started this recently, I currently only have 150 Poland issues, and 117 issues of topical issues from the likes of St Thomas & Prince and Equatorial Guinea, etc.

If you have a list to share, or if you would like a copy of what I have (along with updates as I add more), please reply below.

Thanks

Ted

  • I have about 7000 cross references between Scott and SW numbers established. I just pulled an Excel file export I can share, just need to know where to send it! I also include hyperlinks to the SW pages that show the stamp, well, at least where I'm allowed to use hyperlinks (not here).

Also, keep in mind that SW numbers are not stable. They rearrange them/change them a lot, especially for more current issues. This can be a hassle if you want to keep your listings current. That's why I listed the URLs, for even though they might change their numbers, they tend to keep the web addresses for the various sets the same.

There are plans to expand the current HipStamp (Scott) Catalog to include other catalogues. Presumably all dual cat numbers from HipStamp listings will be indexed as a starting point in building the new HipStamp Catalog.

It would be good if Mark can chime in here and confirm this, as it could mean all your SW numbers will get automatically included in the HipStamp Catalog at some point.
  • Sounds good.
  • Doug, I have also noticed that, in stamp sets, the order of the images does not always match the catalog #/color descriptions below, in which case I go by the color descriptions to determine the SW catalog number.
  • Yes, it is still fraught with errors, but it really is a tremendous online resource. Especially for finding stamps in sets that aren't photographed in the other major printed catalogues. Searching by denomination is a huge plus.
  • On the money Brother Doug! SW is a valuable tool for finding the stamps in sets!!! As usual, you are a valuable asset here on HipStamp!!! Keep up the excellent work!
