Scott U.S. Stamped Envelope # U447A
My Scott National Album has a space designated for a Washington 2 cent Carmine on White with the 2 Cent Rose Surcharge. The Scott catalogue lists the U447A as a 2 Cent on 1 Cent green with black surcharge. Does anyone know if the album page is incorrect or is it the catalogue that is incorrect? Thanks

U447A 2c on 2c Carmine on white, die 1, type 2 surcharge, an immensely rare mint cut square, measuring 43x41mm, wonderfully bright and fresh, extremely fine; one of the greatest postal stationery rarities in existence, as it is believed that there may be only two or three (at most) in existence, and this may well be the first example to be ever offered at public auction; the rarity of this cut square can easily be documented by both its lack of appearance in even the most advanced collections and in any auction of recent memory, in fact, the Scott catalog years ago decided to take out any reference to value simply because this item never traded hands at auction or even privately to their knowledge, we did find a catalog value of $1,250.00 back in the 1988 edition of the Scott catalog, and similarly priced items at the time now routinely realize $15,000.00 to $30,000.00 or more; the appearance of this cut square at auction is truly a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity for the serious collector of United States cut squares; signed "RAC" (Richard A. Champagne) and accompanied by a 1997 PSE certificate. (Image) Est. 15,000-20,000
SOLD for $45,000.00

Way out of my price range!!
Scott U447A is reported in their specialized catalog as 2c black surcharge on a 1c Green U420 (another conflict with the Album page note)
U447C and U447D are both 2c black surcharge on 2c carmine (on U429 and U430 respectively)
