This stamp has # 20 Wmk. it has Perf 14 but I still can't figure out the Scott #! It could be #20 but the numeral 1 in each corner makes me wonder... shouldn't it be letters? Can someone help?
The letters on the corners are positions on the sheet. They were a safeguard against forgery and re-use. Many GB Victoria issues have this feature. Each position has a different corner letter combination starting with AA to TL (I think).
Thanks a million! Either I missed it, but I've been reading the foot notes in Scott all over the place, and there's many. And I didn't see this anywhere, but I only have the "general" book. So it will be #79!
