Topical selection box

On the listing form when I come to the topical box I try to use it whenever possible, but when there is no choice of a topic could the "not specified" selection be at the top of the list rather than at the bottom - would be a timesaver for me. If there is a short cut to not specified I have not figured it out yet.

What I do is type the word "not" and it fills in. You can also just type the letter "N" and it will reduce the choices to 4 and you can choose "Not Specified" (last in the list) from there
  • thanks - Ill try that. Senile Citizens like me sometimes have trouble figuring out all the quirks that the younger generation can use with ease.
  • You can use that technique for all the Topics. It seems to work for any word in the topic even if it is not the first word. So if you type "M", Animals - Mammals comes up first.
  • Where on HS do you get the option to search by topic? I can not seem to find it but maybe it is in a "special" place?
  • If you click on Browse or use the Browse Drop Down...
  • In my store on the left hand side there is a list of the areas that I offer, all by country, but at the bottom of the list there is a topical selection that gives a list of topics, Check on a box for Europa for example and lo and behold all the Europa stamps that I offer come up.
  • On the HS home page there is also the drop down menu that leads to a topics list on the left side
  • Thanks Robert, I see the drop down under the browser button, never noticed it before.

Dennis, I do not see the topics listed to the left in my store. If I select a country then I do get the categories of Type, Condition, Format and Year of Issue but no Topics. Is there a setup somewhere that enables Topics? Thanks
  • On my store page if I select topicals from the category menu that is on the left, a list labelled "topic" appears with check boxes appears underneath categories and above year of issue. If I check Europa for example all my Europa stamps will appear.
I have not "played" much with the search function as I prefer to spend my time listing stamps but play with the search and see what it can do. It has surprised me. May be because I an old curmudgeon I have preferred layouts where I could just click my way down a list, through sub-listings to get where I wanted to go, ie click on Great Britain, then if presented a list of monarchs click on the monarch I wanted, and so on. I guess search does much the same thing but is more in line with the way the younger crowd likes things, and that's probably a good thing because old curmudgeons don't have a long shelf life remaining.
  • Dennis:
Not sure we are on the same train of thought. As an example I can search in my store for "Christmas" and set categories to United States, the only sub category is United States. I see the selections below categories for Type, Condition, Format and Year of Issue but no Topics. In this example all my Christmas FDC are set up with the topic "Christmas and Holidays" so I would expect to see the topics selection appear on the left hand side? Are you sure you see an area on the left titled "Topicals"? mike
  • I think that what shows up on the left side in a store depends on what the vendor lists the stamps as, ie if I had no topicals listed none would show up on the left side. I don't have time to play with things right now. But my advice and 50 cents is worth about 50 cents - or less.
