Unsolicited "Limited Time Offer" in My Messages

I just received a "Limited Time Offer" from another Hipstamp dealer in :"My messages", I have had no business dealings with this dealer I am aware of. It looks like a site template - choice of 3 boxes to check - accept, counter or decline. Is this some new feature or just a rogue dealer trying to drum up business with unsolicited Spam. There is no way this site should allow for this kind of unsolicited activity.

Anyone know if this is a new thing and if so how to opt out - I don't need to waste my time with dealers playing games.

  • Henry,

It is "Automatic Offers" most likely. I do them myself and as a dealer, I like them. Not exactly sure precisely how they work but essentially if you either view or watch an item in a dealers store, that dealer can enable automatic offers to the viewer or watcher after a set period of time and a set discounted offer. I'm not sure if one can "opt out" of receiving these offers but you can just decline it and move on or ignore it. HipStamp started this optional feature several months ago. Not playing games and not spam. If you don't like it or have comments on it, you should reach out to support@hipecommerce.com and they can address the details of it for you.

  • That explains it as I was working up a couple of dozen fancy cancels and was checking prices on a few of the more obscure ones I haven't sold copies of before. Probably viewed one of his stamps with a fancy cancel for reference pricing so that legitimizes his offer - I was not aware of the feature. Thanks.
  • You betcha. I have mine set up to offer a 10% discount once an item has been viewed after 60 days. Haven't had any negative feedback or comments on it and have actually had some sales on things in response to it. I suspect that folks who get these just generally ignore them unless they are interested.
