Is this a new thing? Appears to be and oh my, one of the very first blogs from 8/22....https://www.hipstamp.com/blog/stamps-lesson-photos

Tips on how to take the best listing image..."whether using an IPad or phone...." and...."To avoid blurry photos, make sure that you tap the stamp on your iPad or phone to focus your camera before taking the photo." What does that even mean..."tap the stamp" and why do people think the only and best way to acquire images is to use an "I" anything?

Maybe the bloggers can consult with some folks who know how to do things really well before blogging it all over the place. But what do I really know about anything eh? I think I got some blog on me after reading this. I hope it will come out in the wash.

Sigh......

This should be interesting folks.

  • Did you notice that the "3 Things to Remember" had 4 things?
  • And frankly, to avoid blurry photos, CLEAN YOUR FRACKING LENSES, YOU SHUFFLING ZOMBIES!!!
  • New math Phil. Yes I did notice. Harumph!!!!!! How difficult would it have been for the blogger to reach out to about 4 or 5 dealers on this platform and ask them for how they go about creating such nice listing images....and THEN blogging about it. I'm sure the intent was there to help but doing a little research couldn't hurt for this kind of stuff.

“Tap the stamp” means touch the stamp on your phone screen, to direct the camera to focus on that spot.
  • Grrrr......
  • I think I will stick to my scanner set at 600 dpi, thank you. We must have covered this on a couple of dozen threads.
  • So will I. There's that too....
  • Me three.
  • Never had anything produced by apple. Started on desk tops back in the mid '80s using Dos and always stayed away from apple.
I also use a scanner for most of my photos or else I use a digital camera for taking photos of item I can't scan.
  • I am using an iPhone 12 and quite like the results. Also, I transfer the photos to a MacBook Pro, and use Apple's easy to use cropping software.

How about a 5th thing to remember about making photos of stamps: Take a look at what you did.

I found this in new auctions tonight. You can tell it is likely Brit. Virgin
Islands. Starting bid is just $24.
  • What the hell is that???!!!! Is it the Fifth Dimension? Is this actually listed for sale on HS?
  • Yessir, it is, sir. I'd cut and paste the link but I still don't know how to do that on my phone. Go to current auctions, most recent, and in about 3 pages. It would be bad form to give the store name, but if you can find it it's worth the gander.
