Great Britain stamps

I went through my inventory of stamps with zero views (too damn many BTW) last night and was a bit surprised to see so many Great Britain offerings. Then I looked to see how many GB stamps I had sold so far....zero, nada, zilch! My conclusion?.....HIpStamp ain't the place to sell GB stamps. In any case, I lowered my pricing by 25-50%, and am thinking I should just put them on Ebay for a penny until they sell.

OTOH, I'm kinda taking a deep dive into specializing in Canada pre WWII. Having some success, and have done quite a bit of buying. Just notified yesterday that I won a Vance Auction small collection....my first from SAN. Wish me luck!

  • Wish you much luck always John... I did business with the Carmichael family (Vance Auctions) for about a decade & hold them in high regard. I think you will be pleased. SAN has several outstanding Canadian Auction houses listed. I like your idea of specializing.. either an Era (like preWWII) or an ISSUE. My store here does not reflect it, but my primary venture Dan Shilcrat Stamps & Postal History has done a bit with the King George V Admiral issue. Very worthwhile..very rewarding You can go as 'deep' as you like, Also many good Reference books available (Marler) all in English. Look at https://bnaps.org/ore/VanSomeren-AdmiralStamps/VanSomeren-AdmiralStamps-Intro.htm it will fascinate you. Just a thought. Dan
  • I have found classic GB to be a hard sell at any site. IMHO some catalogue valuations are perhaps way above actual market, especially from catalogue publishers who might be influenced by investment protfolio vendors.
