Here is a fun piece from my own collection. 1912-20 Multiple Crown CA 1s, block of four, plus 1918-20 'War Stamp' ½d and 1d, tied to small piece by South Georgia 'JY 17/21' double-ring date stamps, together with Falkland Islands 'New Island' registration label (No 171) with "NEW ISLAND" deleted in manuscript. One of seven pieces known with the altered registration label, all used in South Georgia on this date.
Ooo'-kee. That recent unpleasantness is done with: flip-flop. I got back home yesterday evening, Friday, and I'm slowly getting the snot out and recovering. We are both exhausted. I hope to post some photos tonight, just to have something to do. See y'all later...
Guadeloupe 34, 15c blue. I believe this is counterfeit. Originals are perf 14x13.5 on quadrille paper. There is a note in Scott that 13.5x14 perfs are counterfeit. Such is this stamp, and I find no sign of quadrille paper. A cheap lesson, I'll keep it and mark it.
I've never called myself a world wide collector. I just buy what I like, things that appeal to me, rabbit holes that I will eventually dig out and turn into something presentable. Such is this. Denmark 131, 1928, the high value from the 1913-28 Christian X set. I don't even collect Denmark. It was just such a handsome stamp. Now it would be nice to work on the whole set.
Agree Phil, this is one of my favorite era of stamps actually. All the souvenir sheets from this time are part of what really drew me in to stamp collecting in my early teens. And then these imperfs just put the nail in the lid.
Okay, this is not a photo or anything to do with philately. But, I wanted to share this coin I found. It was given to my Dad (US Navy) by my Uncle (USAF). It is bronze, 32.01mm wide, plain smooth edge - no edge marks, struck in 1955, weight is 4.29, thickness is 2.4mm. The Numista #N*25160. It is made from the copper spikes that came from the US Frigate Constellation which was the first Navy ship.
