Mail service during the Civil War
This is more a history question than a stamp question. During the US Civil War, could people mail letters between the Union and the Confederacy? Could US postage stamps be used in Confederate states? Were Confederate stamps used to mail letters to Union states or only good within the CSA? Could people in Confederate states send mail to other countries using Confederate stamps? I could continue these questions as each one spurs another, but I think you can get the point. I guess I'm looking for a Civil War postal history lesson if anyone has the knowledge and the time. Thank you.
